2023 Product Updates from Emsisoft: What’s New

Online scams are becoming more and more common these days, and people are losing billions of dollars to them every year. These scams can take many forms, such as look-alike sites for popular retailers, websites for fake businesses, and fake charity sites. Emsisoft has teamed up with the Global Anti-Scam Alliance and ScamAdviser to help customers avoid becoming victims of fraud.

Emsisoft’s 2023 updates come with new features and improvements, such as the Anti-Scam feature, Behavior Blocker, and SIEM/SOC integration, and performance optimization.

We will discuss each of these updates in detail.

New Anti-Scam Feature

Online scams are a common threat that can be hard to spot, resulting in billions of dollars lost every year. To address this issue, Emsisoft has partnered with the Global Anti-Scam Alliance and ScamAdviser. With the latest version of the endpoint protection solution, Emsisoft has introduced a new Anti-Scam feature that uses ScamAdviser’s list of known-bad websites to keep customers safe. When the feature is enabled, customers will receive a notification either in-application or through Emsisoft Browser Security. To enable the Anti-Scam feature, customers can go to MyEmsisoft, select ‘Protection policies’ in their Emsisoft workspace, and navigate to ‘Content Filtering’ to enable the category ‘Scam.’

Improved Ransomware Protection

This latest update includes improvements to Emsisoft’s Behavior Blocker. The company has fine-tuned its detection patterns so that users have the best possible protection against today’s number one cybersecurity threat: ransomware. Ransomware is a complex and continuously evolving threat, and Emsisoft needs to continuously update its detection methods to ensure that any attack is blocked before encryption can start.

Improved SIEM Integration Options

In response to multiple customer requests, Emsisoft has added additional functionality for SIEM/SOC integrations to enable broader support for third-party platforms such as SumoLogic. The new features include support for client and server certificates to authenticate feed sources, support for custom authentication tokens for those platforms that require tokens, and improved support for data formats, with support for CEF and RFC5424. Customers can also select the preferred transportation channel, with TLS optional.

Improved Browser Security Extensions

Emsisoft has improved its Browser Security extensions, adding support for Chrome’s Manifest V3. The company has also increased the maximum file size for scanning to 1GB for both real-time and custom scans. These improvements help ensure that users continue to have the best possible security.

Performance Optimization

This latest update focuses on performance optimization, including startup speed, cloud protection data processing speed, user interface responsiveness, and minimizing overall system impact. The optimizations ensure that users’ protection software continues to be highly usable, while the improvements to cloud processing speeds ensure that users continue to have the best possible security.

Redesigned and Simplified Workspace Dashboard

Emsisoft has redesigned and simplified the workspace dashboard, improving its loading speed and responsiveness. The device list in the workspace dashboard is now more responsive, with less data-reload flickering and improved scroll behavior. Additionally, there is improved incidents remediation, providing more information about actions taken, improved speed of EDR events processing, and a new sortable ‘Edits’ column in the workspace dashboard that shows the number of settings edits of devices.

How to Obtain the New Version

As long as users have auto-updates enabled, they will receive the latest version automatically during their regularly scheduled updates. Note to Enterprise users: If they have chosen to receive “Delayed” updates, client systems will receive the new version no earlier than 30 days after the regular “Stable” availability.

Emsisoft is dedicated to protecting its customers from online threats, and the company’s latest updates provide even greater protection against scams, ransomware, and other attacks. With the introduction of the Anti-Scam feature, improved ransomware protection, SIEM integration,Behavior Blocker, SIEM integration options, Browser Security extensions, and workspace dashboard, we can expect even more enhanced virus protection in the future.
